Anyone else feeling like it’s time to stop undervaluing yourself and be who God has called you to be? You feel like you’ve wasted so much time settling for good enough and you now understand God wants to give you his best. This is exactly how I’ve felt for the last two weeks since I got back from the Young Leaders Conference in Georgia. I can’t put into words the things that happen. All I can say is God really showed up in my life and I got to experience His presence in a way that’s indescribable.
Yesterday, God put it in my spirit that it’s time for me to remove my lamp shade. At first I was confused because I didn’t understand what it meant. So I researched lamps and the purpose of having a lamp shade.
Lamp shades are used to protect our eyes from the light bulb’s glare.
I know that God has called me to live as a light, and to be honest I’ve definitely been putting a shade over my light. For example, if I don’t agree with something, and I feel that tugging on my heart from God telling me to say something but I just sit in silence. Not realizing that saying nothing is actually saying a lot and can be interpreted as approval.
So my lamp shade is ending my silence. I know God has put great things on the inside of me and I’m not really sure why I try to hide them. But I’m on a journey to find out why ,dig that root up, and replace it with truth.
So I want to ask you, what is your lamp shade? What is the thing that is blocking your light from shinning bright? Is it letting go of something so you can walk in freedom? Is it ending your silence? Is it doing that thing God has called you to do no matter what others have said?
Whatever your lamp shade is, remove it. God wants your light to shine bright. The right people and the right things will be able to handle it and the wrong things and people will turn themselves away because looking directly at your light will make them uncomfortable.
I hope this encouraged you to live in your light today! Walk in what is good, right, and true.
